MINISTRY DESCRIPTION:
OM is looking for artists and art students to come for two weeks to help with the Art Zone at OM’s Teenstreet conference, which attracts nearly 3000 teens from all over Europe (www.teenstreet.om.org).
Teens gather together for dynamic worship and for creative teaching sessions and times of prayer. At other times teens explore the theme through sharing and discussion in small groups. There are workshops and seminars and teens can chill out in the ‘Interaction Zone’ where there are different fun activities and places to relax. The Art Zone will be open for teens to express themselves creatively.

SPECIFIC PROJECTS:
Week 1: The congress set up week, including the Art Zone. The Art Zone staff as a team will build the program together, share ideas, discuss the theme and how the zone will run.
Week 2: The congress itself. The Art Zone staff will be fully involved in running the Art Zone and other art initiatives.
The Art Zone:
At Teenstreet, opportunity is sought for teens to express themselves through art in response to the worship and teaching of the week.
The Art Zone is a designated area with a range of art supplies and resources and overseen by a team of helpers with art interest or background. There is a range of media and techniques offered according to skills of the team – painting, sculpture, print-making, etc. In previous years, the Art Zone has been filled to capacity.
Art in Throne Room:
There is also the plan to facilitate art work directly into the main ‘Throne Room’ worship times. While the band leads worship, there will be a designated area where teens can respond in worship through art. In previous years it has been refreshing to see the lack of inhibitions and the freedom with which teens created – no need to defend, justify, or explain art as a valid expression of worship to them!
Impact of the work:
Most of the work produced is displayed around the congress site. Many teens express a sense of achievement and satisfaction when they produced work beyond what they thought they could, and an appreciation for the help from the Art Zone team to realize their ideas. Some teens have never really painted or drawn in their life and this offers the opportunity to explore their first attempt! It is also great to be able to talk to teens about studying art and careers and ministry in art.
Art Auction:
Each year Teenstreet has a specific project to raise funds and prayer for needy teens in another part of the world. At the last two TS congresses we also held an auction of some of the art work to raise money for the project.
Art Installations:
Last year, creative stations and interactive installations were set up where teens could express themselves.
Outreach:
All the teens will be involved in a one-day outreach in the city. Teams of teens will be involved in public art such as sidewalk chalk drawings, drawing caricatures, etc. As part of the outreach, there will also be an exhibition of art work produced during the congress.
